Good progress today……
We made awesome progress today through three locks (Iroquois, Eisenhower and Snell) despite a significant sailor’s bane.
AWA – Apparent Wind Angle – the angle of the apparent wind with respect bow…. ie. standing on the bow.
AWS – Apparent Wind Speed – the speed of the wind when standing on the bow – 0.0 is a BAD number for sailing
TWS – True Wind Speed – Wind speed with respect to the water you are floating on (which may be moving with respect to the earth as in the case of the St. Lawrence Seaway with its 1-2 knot currents) – 0.0 is a BAD number.
TWA – True Wind Angle – the angle of the true wind standing on the bow.
The weather was AWESOME for everyone except sailors 😉 Net-net – there was absolutely NO wind to sail with. Today was Diesel powered so our Iron Genny gave us a great day.. While it may not be the most efficient way to move, it certainly was a pleasant day with 28C and fantastic scenery.
The American Narrows gives visual definition to Ed Sheeran’s “Castle on the Hill”
The only problem I see with this area is that the speed limit is 10.5 Knots. Not very fun if you want to go water skiing.
Aiming for another lock or two tomorrow.

Sounds like the trip is going well you should consider adding a google map where you pin prick your position every night or couple of nights when you lose land. (easy for me to suggest harder for you to do) interested in following your journey
Click on the “Where are we” link 😉 I try to update daily. Over the next few weeks, I’ll try to automate it.
