Halifax!
We made it to Halifax! The passage from Canso was….. Well….. exciting. Weather predictions called for an approaching gale that will produce produce 35kn winds and 3-5 meter waves Sunday evening though Monday so we decided to get an early start to Halifax and raised the anchor in Canso at 1am Sunday morning. We made the 120nm journey in 24 hours with a mix of no wind in the morning (using the diesel powered iron genny), great sailing West breeze in the afternoon (15kn beam reach pushing us comfortably to hull speed of 7.9kn) to an uncomfortable 20 knot South breeze forcing us to sail close hauled with 25kt apparent wind on the boat. In the end the wind veered to Southeast and we had to go back to the iron genny and push through 25kn winds for our last couple of hours.
Life wasn’t too bad in the cockpit. It was a bit rougher down below. Dad is the only one who can cook with the Rock ‘n Roll but we didn’t suffer too badly.
We made it to Halifax before the gale…… It is now howling outside but we are comfortable in Halifax in a protected harbour tied securely to a mooring ball.

Glad you made it in safely – love following your journey!
Once we are in the Caribbean, you will have to come for a visit! Great to hear that you are following us! Hugs to you and the family! xo
Nice.
About a years worth of sailing experience crammed into 24 hours!
Yes sir. Boat handle it nicely. I got to test my marine culinary skills. Made a big pot of chilli while sailing close hauled in 20kt apparent. Fun.
