Happy Easter From Bequia

Happy Easter From Bequia

We made it to Bequia in time for the Easter festivities. Good Friday started off with a Regatta. Many boats entered the Regatta but Saphira Blue was not race ready when we arrived so we got to watch.

Saturday started with Coconut Boat races for the kids. Essentially a coconut cut in half with a couple of sails added to the top and a keel on the bottom.

It was quite interesting to see how well some of them sailed. Most sailed on the beam (wind on the side of the boat) but a few sailed to wind. One even self tacked into the wind (zig zag into the wind – a tough feat for an uncontrolled sail boat).

The races were followed by a Treasure Hunt for the kids.

If your Easter pail or basket is empty, you need to find something to do with it until you can fill it…..

Of course once it is filled, you can’t use it as a hat until the candy is gone…. Kara did the best job at working through her stash.

And we closed the day by painting eggs on Saphira Blue.

Happy Easter from the crew of Saphira Blue in Bequia!
